Title: "Of Old Sat Freedom On The Heights..." Author: Alfred Lord Tennyson [More Titles by Tennyson] First published in 1842, but it seems to have been written in 1834. The fourth and fifth stanzas are given in a postscript of a letter from Tennyson to James Spedding, dated 1834.
There in her place [1] she did rejoice, Then stept she down thro' town and field Grave mother of majestic works, Her open eyes desire the truth. That her fair form may stand and shine,
