_ ACT II: SCENE IX SCENE: The COUNT OF LARA'S chambers. LARA and his friends COUNT OF LARA. So, Caballeros, once more many thanks! DON J. Did you mark, Don Luis, DON L. I pitied her. COUNT OF LARA. Her pride is humbled; and this very night DON J. Will you serenade her? COUNT OF LARA. No music! no more music! DON L. Why not music? COUNT OF LARA. Not in the humor DON J. Try golden cymbals. DON L. Yes, try Don Dinero; COUNT OF LARA. To tell the truth, then, I have bribed her maid. (They rise and drink.) All. Preciosa. COUNT OF LARA. (holding up his glass). (Drinks and dashes the goblet down.)
